Xiaomi's new flagship smartphone will come in two parts. This is reported by TechRadar, citing Chinese insiders.

Sources said that the device will be assembled from two halves connected by a hinge. The main display will be located on the inside of the device, the additional one – outside. The journalists compared the future device with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Huawei Mate X2, which have a similar design.

According to the disclosed data, the main panel of the gadget will have a diagonal of 8.03 inches when open, the additional one – 6.38 inches. Thus, the Xiaomi device will surpass the size of the flagship Samsung device. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a 7.6-inch primary and 6.23-inch secondary displays. The authors concluded that the design of both devices will be almost identical.

Apparently, the model will be called Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 Pro Max. The journalists clarified that the new device will continue the line of Mi Mix concept smartphones. For example, the original Xiaomi Mi Mix, released in 2016, was one of the first on the market to have a virtually bezel-less display.

According to early rumors, Samsung Display will supply a flexible screen for the device. There are also suggestions that the smartphone will be released in several versions, one of which will receive the Lite postfix in the name and will be targeted at a wide range of consumers. The timing of the announcement of the flagship gadget was not disclosed.

At the beginning of the year, journalists uncovered a Xiaomi patent for a clamshell smartphone. The device has two displays, connected by a hinge, with which the smartphone can be extended in length. At the same time, the design of the patented device was more reminiscent not of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, but of the Motorola Razr clamshell.
