The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance described a scenario of a probable global conflict.
Before China invades the self-ruled island of Taiwan, Chinese leader Xi Jinping will approach his “junior partner,” Russian President Vladimir Putin, with a proposal to attack NATO countries in Europe to distract the alliance from events in the Pacific region.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte described this threatening scenario in an interview with The New York Times.
“If Xi Jinping were to attack Taiwan, he would first call his very junior partner in all this, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who lives in Moscow, and say, 'Hey, I'm going to do this, and I need you to distract them in Europe by attacking NATO territory.' That's probably how it would play out,” he suggested.
According to the Secretary General of the Alliance, this is precisely why NATO must be so strong that the Kremlin would never dare to commit such aggression.
Another way to prevent a global conflict, Mark Rutte said, is NATO's cooperation with the Indo-Pacific region, which is very actively promoted by US President Donald Trump.
“We have a close relationship, working together in the defense industry, innovation between NATO and the Indo-Pacific region,” he said.
Let us recall that China is conducting active airborne exercises, introducing the latest artillery systems and increasing the level of combat readiness of units that could be involved in a possible invasion of Taiwan.
