After a recent strong increase, world trade is likely to lose momentum again towards the end of the year, according to the WTO. The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced on Friday that its barometer for global trade in goods had climbed to 100.7 points after the record low of 84.5 points in August in the wake of the corona crisis.

“The latest data signal a strong recovery in trade in the third quarter as the restrictions in the lockdowns were relaxed,” the WTO said. “But growth will likely slow down in the fourth quarter once the pent-up demand is met and stocks are replenished.”
