Austrian football mourns Alfred Teinitzer, who died at the age of 91, as the ÖFB announced to the APA on Wednesday. The long-time LASK offensive player finished third with Austria's national team in 1954. Teinitzer died as the last team member to take part in this historic red-white-red success.
However, Teinitzer did not collect playing minutes at the finals in Switzerland. He also played a few games for Rapid. With the Green-Whites, Teinitzer was a two-time champion (1951, 1952) and winner of the Zentropacup (1951). In the (today's) Bundesliga game between LASK and Rapid, Teinitzer should be thought of with a minute's silence.
