The Veloce bicycle messenger service now has a works council. The vida union announced on Monday that this was founded on January 4th despite strong opposition from the company.
After the announcement in December 2020 that a works council was to be established, the company initially announced dismissals against seven employees. These have since been withdrawn, it says in the broadcast of the vida.
“I am really delighted that the employees of Veloce Kuriere withstood the pressure of the company management and did not allow themselves to be dissuaded from their plan to establish a works council,” said Helmut Gruber, chairman of the vida Vienna union. The union saw the unilateral termination of the employment relationship as a motive dismissal and announced lawsuits against it.
Third messenger service with works council
According to the broadcast, the new chairman of the works council, Jakob Zelger, hopes for “a good basis and mutual trust with management in order to resolve conflicts constructively in the future.” He will endeavor to improve the daily work of the bicycle messengers.
