The women who arrived in Oslo as part of a delegation of the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) have applied for asylum in Norway. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the director of the Information Technology Department of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hirulla Shinwari.
“The women who were invited to a meeting in Norway have now asked for asylum there,” Shinwari wrote on his Twitter page.
Shafi Azam, Director of the Economy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed that women and young people are often justified by the protection of civil liberties of the population in order to obtain asylum abroad. According to the official, in this way they discredit the country for personal gain.
A Taliban delegation visited Oslo at the end of January. Negotiations with Afghan politicians and civil activists were held in the Norwegian capital.
At the end of January, the Taliban used tear gas against the participants of a protest organized in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. Women took to the streets of the city demanding to respect their rights and freedoms. A few days later, the militants raided the homes of residents of the capital who took part in the rally.
