Witkoff Claims Treason: What Sparked Anger in the White House

Trump's special envoy to the Middle East has called the leak of the assessment of the consequences of the US strike on Iran treason and is demanding an investigation and punishment for those responsible.

Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff

US President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff has sharply criticized the leak of information about the consequences of the American strike on Iran, calling it a betrayal and calling for an investigation.

The BBC writes about this.

“It's outrageous, it's treasonous, and it should be investigated. Whoever is responsible for this should be held accountable,” Witkoff said on Fox News.

He noted that he had reviewed all the damage assessment reports and was convinced that “there is no doubt” that the three Iranian nuclear facilities that were hit by the US strikes had been destroyed.

President Trump, for his part, shared an excerpt from Witkoff's interview on his Truth Social account. He quoted the special envoy as saying:

“We dropped 12 bunker busters on Fordow. There's no doubt they penetrated the canopy… and there's no doubt they were destroyed. So the suggestion that we missed the target is just nonsense.”

Whitkoff believes that any public doubts about the effectiveness of the operation play into the hands of the enemy and undermine the credibility of the United States.

Let us recall that CNN, citing informed sources, published an article stating that the US strikes on Iran did not destroy key components of the country's nuclear program and probably only set it back several months.

The assessment was prepared by the Pentagon's intelligence agency and is based on a battle damage analysis conducted by US Central Command following the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Two sources familiar with the assessment said Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles were affected by the U.S. strikes, with one of the sources noting that “centrifuges are the main targets.”

Previously US President Donald Trump has denied a CNN report that US strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities have failed to destroy key components of its nuclear program.
