The authoritative French edition L & # 8217; Equipe has published the symbolic team of the best players of 2021.
There was no place in the rankings for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo and French PSG forward Lionel Messi, who was awarded the Ballon d'Or last year.
The symbolic team of the year has the most representatives of the English Premier League & # 8212; seven, and one more representatives of the championships of Italy, Spain, Germany and France.
As for the representation of national teams, the most of the players of the French national team are three.
National Team of the Year according to L & # 8217; Equipe:
- Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy (Chelsea, Senegal);
- Defenders: Trent Alexander -Arnold (Liverpool, England), Ruben Dias (Manchester City, Portugal), Marquinhos (PSG, Brazil) and Theo Hernandez (Milan, France);
- Central midfielders: H & # 8217; Holo Kante (Chelsea, France) and Jorginho (Chelsea, Italy);
- Wingers: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, Egypt) and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City, Belgium );
- Forwards: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern, Poland) and Karim Benzema (Real Madrid, France).
International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) also presented a symbolic team of the best players playing in Europe, at the end of 2021.
Of the 11 footballers included in the team, six are representatives of Premier League clubs. There was no place for Messi in the IFFHS team either, but his eternal rival, the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, ended up in the symbolic team.
