Microsoft will reduce the number of built-in applications in Windows. This is reported by the Windows Latest edition.
The journalists drew attention to the declassified beta version of the OS for insiders, which is already being tested by software developers. In the new iteration of Windows, the company has ditched several built-in programs and features. In particular, in the next versions of the operating system, 3D Viewer, Paint 3D and other programs aimed at artists and designers will disappear. Also, the “3D Objects” folder will be removed from the OS home directory.
In addition, in future OS builds, the Math Input Tool, which is required when working with math formulas, will disappear. The authors believe that the “clean” version of Windows will be more relevant to ordinary users of the system who are not interested in the availability of graphical editors. If necessary, all free system components can be returned using the Windows Store.
The journalists noticed that Microsoft engineers have already made all the innovations in the current version of Windows for beta testers. This means that the above programs and functions will disappear from the operating system in the next update. It is expected that a “clean” version of Windows will be available with system update 21H2, also called “Sun Valley”. The launch of the new version is expected in October-November.
In the new Windows assembly “Sun Valley”, the appearance of the icons will also change. The Verge journalists told about this in mid-March. The new icons are simplified and rounded, and are more in line with the company's Fluent Design concept.
