Microsoft has added support for the AAC codec when streaming audio over Bluetooth headphones. This will improve the sound quality and also ensure full compatibility with Apple AirPods.
Support has only appeared in the latest Windows 10 Insider Build. AAC is a codec used by Apple devices and audio streaming platforms to provide high quality audio at low bit rates. Microsoft noted that Windows 10 users can now enjoy good audio through their Bluetooth headphones and speakers.
In addition to adding codec support, Microsoft has changed the display of audio devices. If earlier a device supporting different codecs was shown in the system as several devices, now it appears as one.
Also in the sound menu panel there is a volume control for headphones depending on the task (listening to music or video conferencing).
