A representative of the Berlin Senate spoke about the procedure that will be introduced in the event of a refusal to a Ukrainian citizen at an embassy or consulate.
Providing or The extension of temporary residence permits in Germany for Ukrainian refugees does not require them to have a valid passport. The main thing is that the German authorities have the opportunity to establish the identity.
This was stated by a representative of the Berlin Senate, that is, the government of Berlin, which has the status of one of the 16 federal states of Germany, in response to a request from DW.
If the Ukrainian embassy or consulate refuses to issue or renew a passport to a Ukrainian citizen solely on the basis of his failure to complete military service, the Berlin State Office for Foreigners will issue him with a travel document replacing the passport for traveling abroad.
At the same time, the Senate representative added that this would be done only in exceptional cases.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian men are rebelling abroad, because they are not given documents, or rather, Ukrainians liable for military service.
