US President Donald Trump has allowed for the possibility of transferring key elements of its air defense system, the Patriot systems, to Ukraine.

Two officials anonymously reported this to The Wall Street Journal.
According to one of them, the White House has asked the Pentagon to provide additional weapons options for Ukraine, including the Patriot system.
“The transfer of another Patriot system would be an important step for the White House, since for the first time Trump would approve providing Ukraine with a large weapons system beyond the amount previously authorized by the administration of previous President Joe Biden,” the journalists note.
Also, as the media writes, officials are studying the possibility of involving other countries in supplying Patriot to Kyiv. Axios wrote the day before that Trump offered Germany to sell one of its existing Patriot batteries to Ukraine.
Let us recall that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called Trump the day before asking him to unblock the Patriot interceptors that were stopped en route to Ukraine.
Merz announced Germany's readiness to buy Patriot batteries from the United States and transfer them to Ukraine.
German officials stress that Germany has already provided Ukraine with a significant share of its Patriot missiles, perhaps even more than the United States in relative terms.

While the Trump administration has previously suspended deliveries, including Patriot interceptors, the necessary weapons are now on their way to Ukraine.
