Решится ли США на ликвидацию Путина: эксперт назвал причины

In his opinion, Washington is asking quite logical questions about whether the Russian Federation will become even worse after the death of the dictator.

The United States and Western countries have no plans to kill Russian dictator Vladimir Putin or carry out an anti-Putin rebellion in Russia.

This opinion was expressed in an article by Foreign Policy by Douglas London, professor of intelligence studies at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (USA), former CIA operations officer.

“Should the United States and its allies seek to overthrow Putin by staging a coup in his absence or killing him while he is traveling? The answer lies in assessing the risks versus the gains,” the analyst argues.

In his opinion, Washington is asking quite logical questions about what will happen to Russia if the dictator dies:

According to him, despite Putin's obsession with intrigue, the West considers him quite predictable.

Douglas London suggests that after the invasion of Iraq, the US no longer seeks to overthrow certain countries for fear of falling chaos, as was the case in the Middle East. For example, after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime, new terrorist groups emerged in Iraq, such as the Islamic State. The Arab Spring is also considered a direct consequence of the American invasion of Iraq.

“The overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq was an equally important factor in triggering the Arab Spring, the consequences of which continue to reverberate throughout the Middle East, as reflected in the ongoing civil wars in Libya, Syria and Yemen, as well as ongoing political instability in Egypt and Tunisia,” writes Douglas London.

Also, the United States was defeated in its attempt to establish pro-Western democratic authorities in Afghanistan, and the country completely returned to the rule of the Taliban.

According to Douglas London, the Russian elites are under the control of the special services and are not capable of a “palace coup”.

“If Putin were killed abroad, despite the evidence, the old guard would likely blame the United States and use it to consolidate power and rally the public. There is a very likely risk that they would respond militarily form, considering themselves unprotected, they would also crack down at home in a ruthless manner that could release long-pent-up revolutionary force among the population that would throw a great nuclear-armed state into chaos,” explains the ex-intelligence officer.

Earlier, Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko pointed out an interesting detail indicating that Putin is increasingly afraid for his life.
