The parties to the conflict cease fire for this time.

At 7 a.m. on December 24, a truce brokered by Qatar between Israel and Hamas came into force. It will last 4 days.

The Times of Israel writes about this.

Details

A few hours before the temporary ceasefire, rocket sirens went off in Israeli cities bordering the Gaza Strip. There were also reports of intense IDF shelling throughout the Gaza Strip as the army sought to speed up its mission against Hamas in the final hours before the pause.

As Qatari mediators note, it is assumed that:

“This agreement encourages additional hostage releases: Israel agrees to an additional day of truce for ten additional hostages released by Hamas,” the statement said.

The agreement will also ensure the transportation of fuel and humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip during the pause. It is the first ceasefire since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that the intensive war against Hamas after the truce will last at least two more months.
