During the meeting in Beijing, the leaders of the two countries discussed the war in Ukraine.
According to Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Maloni, China is currently not interested in supporting Russia's industrial potential.

According to Maloney, during a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, they discussed issues of China's support for Russia in order to understand the interests of each side.
“I think China has no reason at this stage to support Russia's industrial potential. Even if it does not interfere directly, it is clear that this creates friction. And I hope we realize that this nation can really play a decisive role [in ending the war in Ukraine – ed.],” the Italian Prime Minister noted.
During a short press conference for the Italian press in Beijing, Giorgia Maloney noted that, according to Xi Jinping, “China always seeks peaceful coexistence between nations”.
“That's why I would like him to take real steps in this direction,” the head of the Italian government emphasized.
Recall that China is using the opportunity to become a peacemaker in Ukraine before the US elections. China has not changed its position, but sees an opportunity to become a more influential player.
