The expert recalled that, in Biden's opinion, such destruction of missiles and drones would be "interference in the war".
US President Joe Biden will probably not dare to allow Poland and Romania to shoot down Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Fesenko commented on the information from The Hill that a bipartisan group of American legislators asked Biden to allow Poland to use its air defense to protect Ukraine
“If it were only Republicans, this would be Biden's election trolling. Bipartisan is already better,” the expert notes.
Fesenko doubts that Biden will make this decision.
“Here's why: the Biden administration has always supported Ukraine, maybe not fully volume and not as fast as we would like, but it supported. At the same time, there was a postulate – to avoid the risks of war with Russia,” Fesenko notes.
He recalled that, in Biden's opinion, such destruction of missiles and drones would be “interference in the war” between Russia and Ukraine.
According to Fesenko, Russian missiles and drones can be shot down at least over the territory of Poland and Romania, because sometimes they fly there. This would also put pressure on the aggressor.
Earlier, the Presidential Office reported that the new agreement between Ukraine and Poland, concluded on July 8 this year during President Zelensky's visit to Warsaw, provides for the possibility of intercepting Russian missiles and drones by Polish forces in the skies over Ukraine.
However, shortly after this, Polish Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Poland would not shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine without a NATO decision.
Recall that during the shelling in March 2024, a Russian missile again flew into Polish airspace. However, Warsaw cynically stated that they decided not to shoot down the missile because it was supposed to return to Ukraine anyway.
