Innsbruck goalie Lukas Wedl
Wiener Austria wants to strike again on the transfer market! Another goalie is to come from second division Wacker Innsbruck.
It is said to be Lukas Wedl. As the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” reports, there are talks between the Tyroleans and the Violettes about an obligation for the 25-year-old. Wedl's contract in Innsbruck runs until 2022, and he is currently the third goalie at the second division club.
The native of Lower Austria played 45 competitive games for Innsbruck and was a regular goal in the 2019/20 season before he was thrown back by a cruciate ligament tear. Before his transfer to Wacker in 2013, he played for Waidhofen and Gaflenz. Both clubs with which Austria's Vice President Raimung Harreither is well connected.
Wedl would be the sixth goalie to be hired by Austria. The favorites currently have five goalkeepers under contract in their two professional teams: Patrick Pentz, Ammar Helac, Mirko Kos, Mathias Gindl and Sandali Conde.
