This opinion was expressed in an interview by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan Sergiy Korsunsky.
“This has happened before. This is the same period when relations between the US and China (Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger) resumed in the 1970s,” Sergei Korsunsky noted.
While studying the issue of relations between these countries, Korsunsky came across a quote from China's main reformer Deng Xiaoping, which he said while on board a plane flying to Washington. This is the first visit by a Chinese leader since the death of Mao Zedong.
The quote was: “If you look at history, then all the countries that were on the side of the United States are wealthy, powerful and effectively developing today. Those countries that were against the United States are abandoned and are in the third world. China was with the United States “.
According to Korsunsky, now the situation is different.
“At that time, China was just beginning its powerful leap forward. What they did is unprecedented. Let’s not forget that a trillion dollars of American investments are involved there. Now a new geopolitics is being born, when it is necessary to look for some mechanisms of constructive interaction with the new China. settled the situation with China, they signed the Shanghai Declaration – this is a unique document, because not only common “pluses” were recorded there, but also their different positions on some issues. Ukraine,” the ambassador explained.
Earlier, Western media reported that China was considering sending small arms, artillery and ammunition to Russia.
At the same time, adviser to the Presidential Office Mykhailo Podolyak stated that China's proposals on the war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine do not carry the idea of a “peace plan”, but propose a freezing of the conflict.
