Ukraine feared that on February 24 Russia would deliver a new massive blow to our state. Fortunately, this did not happen. The air force said the question was the capabilities of the enemy.
Yuriy Ignat, the speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told on the air of the telethon what was the real reason that the Kremlin did not strike Ukraine on February 24. Although many high-ranking officials and even the head of Ukrainian intelligence warned about the alleged attack.
Why Russia did not attack Ukraine on February 24
The question is what they can afford to release in Ukraine, – said Yuri Ignat.
The speaker said that the enemy in the Black Sea has many ships carrying cruise missiles, the total salvo of which is more than 40 missiles. According to an Air Force speaker:
- never have such a number of “Caliber” taken off from ships in the Black Sea;
- let only 10 – 15 of these “Caliber”;
- most of the missiles flew from air-based carriers – from the Tu-95.
“Therefore, the change in the use of both missiles and Shaheds is apparently related to their presence and what they can afford at this time. This is all their tactics and strategy,” Yuri Ignat added. .
How many missiles and drones has Russia used since autumn 2022
The speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that since September 11, 2022, since the start of Russian missile attacks on the infrastructure of Ukraine, Russia has used:
- approximately 650 high-precision cruise missiles – these are only downed air defenses;
- 650 Iranian drones.
According to Yuriy Ignat, it is worth adding another 20-25% that our air defense did not shoot down, and there will be a number of missiles launched in Ukraine. In addition, one should also take into account the drone attack on the night of February 27th.
“But the enemy did not achieve any result. However, the Russians have a lot of Soviet S-300 missiles, which they will use to hit the front-line territories of Ukraine,” the speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained.
Note! The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the enemy can reduce attacks on energy infrastructure and move on to attacks on transport infrastructure or hydraulic structures.
When is the next strike on Ukraine possible?
- On February 28, the head of the Nikolaev OVA, Vitaly Kim, said that air raid signals should be heeded, because the Russians have been technically ready to strike since February 24.
- Moreover, the official explained that thanks to certain actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Russian invaders are suffering a massive blow. However, the Russian invaders are still preparing, reconnaissance, changing tactics and making fake attacks.
- On the same day, the head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Security and Defense Forces, Natalya Gumenyuk, said that the Russians were keeping Ukraine in suspense. After all, the enemy increased the ship grouping in the Black Sea from 4 to 13 units. There are two submarine missile carriers equipped with 8 Caliber missiles.
