Experts say this is part of an information campaign.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and the military leadership of the aggressor country praise the Oreshnik ballistic missile, which the occupiers used to attack the city of Ukraine.
This is stated in a new review by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
However, this is most likely part of an information campaign aimed at exaggerating Russia's capabilities and putting pressure on the West and Ukraine.
Analysts note that on November 22, Putin met with the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry, representatives of the Russian defense industry and missile developers. He called the launch of the Oreshnik a “successful” response to “those who are trying to blackmail” Russia.
The Commander of the Russian Missile Forces, Colonel General Sergei Karakayev, emphasized that the missile is capable of hitting targets throughout Europe, and has no analogues in the world.
At the same time, American and Ukrainian media note that the Oreshnik is not a fundamentally new weapon. Pentagon officials confirmed that it was a medium-range missile based on the RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental missile.
Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh also stressed that Russia used missiles with large warheads during the preliminary attacks.
“Russia is benefiting from the noisy statements about the November 21 strike and is likely hoping that increased concern over the launch of the Oreshnik missile prompts the West to reduce its support for Ukraine,” the report said.
Recall that on the morning of November 21, the Russian army struck the Dnieper. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that on this day RF struck with new intercontinental ballistics.
