Above all, petroleum products and fuels are significantly cheaper

Wholesale prices fell by an annual average of 4.1 percent in the corona year 2020. They had already stagnated in 2019. The decline in 2020 was driven by falling prices for mineral oil products (-28.4 percent) and petrol and diesel (-16.5 percent). But solid fuels, old material and residual materials also became cheaper. Statistics Austria announced that watches and jewelry, sweets and other food items became more expensive.

In December 2020, the wholesale price index (GHPI 2015) reached 103.1 points. Compared with December 2019, this corresponds to a decrease of 2.7 percent.
