The largest EU countries will take on the "burden" military and financial support for Ukraine in the context of a possible reduction in US involvement.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, after a meeting of the heads of the foreign ministries of the largest European countries on Tuesday, November 19, said that Europe is ready to help Ukraine with weapons and finances if the United States under the new president reduces its support for Kyiv.

Wprost writes about this.

Sikorski reported that the ministers agreed to take on greater commitments to European security. In particular, they agreed to distribute defense spending in NATO in a more balanced way, and also, together with the new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas, to consider how Europe can increase assistance to Ukraine.

“I note with gratitude in this context the readiness of the largest EU countries to take on the burden of military and financial support for Ukraine in the context of a possible reduction in US participation,” Sikorski said.

At the same time, he added that during the meeting the ministers supported the extension and tightening of sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to Sikorski, the sanctions will remain in effect until Russia withdraws its troops from Ukrainian territory and reimburses the costs of restoration.

Recall that Sikorski acknowledged that “imposing peaceful solutions on Ukraine that are contrary to its interests or have no public recognition will negatively affect stability in the country.”
