Karl Schmidhofer resigned as ÖSV boss, Roswitha Stadlober leads on an interim basis

After a stroke of fate, Karl Schmidhofer resigned from the office of ÖSV President. Who will be his successor? A timetable is emerging.

On June 19, Schmidhofer was chosen as the successor to long-term ÖSV boss Peter Schröcksnadel. But only three months later he resigned from his post. The reason: One of his sons had suffered a stroke. “I now want to devote all my energy to the family,” said the 59-year-old.

Who will succeed him? Vice-President Roswitha Stadlober is currently managing the business on an interim basis. A schedule is now emerging, according to which the search for candidates should take place. Accordingly, a presidium conference will take place next Wednesday in Salzburg. This committee should decide how the timetable should look like until the new leadership of the association.

All country heads take part in the meeting. Until the next international conference in June 2022, it is conceivable that Stadlober will continue to lead the ski association on an interim basis. Another option is short-term new elections. The 58-year-old could of course compete there herself. But it would also be possible that ex-ski ace Michael Walchhofer, who could not prevail in the last election, is running again – he has already shown interest.
