Who was the “peace plan” for: will China help Russia in the war

by alex

China recently unveiled a “peace plan” – its vision of ending the war in Ukraine. It is assumed that the KRN may take the side of the aggressor, but the threat of an economic crisis and global isolation will become too real for it.

This was told to Channel 24 by international journalist Alexei Burlakov. He stressed that cooperation with Russia is now unprofitable for any country.

There are periodic speculations in the media that China can help Russia in the war. Burlakov noted that China has not joined military conflicts since the middle of the last century. In addition, China will not fully support Russia, because this will mean becoming dependent on it. And the stronger cannot be dependent on the weak, added the speaker.

What are the implications for China?

For the PRC, Russia's support will mean complete global isolation. This will also affect the Chinese economy, because it actively trades with the US and Europe.

According to Burlakov, a similar situation occurred last year with Iran, when they made certain concessions in the nuclear program, which it had been striving for since 2003. Instead, Iran was asked to increase oil production in order to remove Russia from this market. But after the continuation of his cooperation with Russia, this opportunity was canceled for Iran.

The journalist is convinced that the best way China can help Russia is to write off its old equipment for them.

What did the Chinese “peace plan” contain?

  • China calls to respect the sovereignty of all countries, abandon the “Cold War mentality”, stop hostilities and sit down at the negotiating table.
  • China's proposal, in particular, includes an end to unilateral sanctions. China is demanding an end to “abuse of sanctions” that are not approved by the UN Security Council – these are the sanctions that work against Russia, since Moscow can always veto sanctions that are trying to be imposed against it.
  • China noted a decrease in strategic risks. It opposes the threat or use of nuclear weapons, and the development or use of chemical and biological weapons.
  • China is also ready to join the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
