The World Health Organization (WHO) has conceived to create a single database of vaccinees against coronavirus. TASS was informed about this by the WHO spokesman Tarik Yazarevich.

According to him, the organization is studying ways to electronically record citizens who have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The specialist recalled that “a vaccination certificate is a well-known card that shows which vaccines a person has received.” It is planned that the usual vaccination record will be available online.

Earlier, the Minister of Health of Russia Mikhail Murashko announced that residents of the country will be able to issue a passport of a person vaccinated against coronavirus on the portal of state services. You will be able to receive the document automatically in your personal account. This feature will appear on the site in January.

In Russia, the topic of introducing “covid passports” for vaccinated people has been repeatedly raised. This idea was approved by the director of the center named after Gamaleya Alexander Gunzburg, who said that this is “absolutely the right thing.” Aleksandr Petrov, member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, opposed the initiative and called it absurd. On December 24, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko compared the idea of special passports for vaccinated people to a dystopia. She argued that the introduction of such documents was not planned in the country.

As of December 30, there are more than 81.7 million people infected with coronavirus in the world, of which more than 1.78 million have died, another 46.2 million have recovered. Most of the infected are registered in the USA, India, Brazil, Russia and France.
