WHO posts a report on the causes of the coronavirus pandemic on its website

The World Health Organization (WHO) posted on its website a report on the origin of the new coronavirus infection following a trip of the organization's experts to Wuhan, China, Interfax reports.

As noted, from the materials of the organization it follows that the mission was unable to establish the source of COVID-19. In this case, the most likely version is the transmission of the virus from bats through an intermediate animal.

At the same time, the head of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, promised that experts will continue to investigate the hypothesis that the virus spread as a result of a laboratory leak.

“Although the group concluded that a laboratory leak is the least likely hypothesis, it requires further investigation, possibly with additional missions involving dedicated experts,” said the head of WHO.

Meanwhile, authorities in the United States and 13 other states have expressed concern that WHO did not receive sufficient information from China during a mission to determine the primary source of COVID-19.

“We all stand for a transparent and independent analysis of the issue of where the COVID-19 pandemic began. Third parties should not interfere in the process, try to influence it, ”the US State Department said in a statement. The document, in addition to Washington, was signed by the authorities of Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, South Korea, Slovenia and Britain.

We will remind, the WHO experts arrived in Wuhan in early January. The group included representatives from several countries, including Russia, the United States, Britain, Germany and Japan. Experts visited the Wuhan Huanan seafood market, which recorded an outbreak of coronavirus in December 2019, a number of city hospitals and the Wuhan Institute of Virology. On February 9, experts said that they did not manage to achieve a major breakthrough, nevertheless, they identified the main hypotheses for the occurrence of coronavirus.
