Russia's goal in the fight against coronavirus is to reduce the number of infected to almost zero or to a very low level in the near future. This was stated by the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the country Melita Vuinovich in an interview with the TV channel “Russia 24”.
According to her, it is necessary to be careful not to relax in connection with the decrease in the incidence in Russia. So, observance of the mask regime and social distance is necessary even after the lifting of strict restrictive measures in order to minimize the number of people infected with coronavirus. “The good performance of the systems that will detect infected people is very important,” the WHO spokeswoman advised.
Earlier, Vujnovich welcomed the publication in the medical journal The Lancet about the Russian vaccine “Sputnik V”, which demonstrated 91.6% effectiveness in tests. In her opinion, new data speaks about the quality of the vaccine. WHO is in talks with various manufacturers of coronavirus vaccines, including Russia, to provide drugs to countries in need.
The number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia over the past day has increased by 16,474 – this is a new minimum since October. The total number of infected people reached 3,901,20. In total, according to the operational headquarters, 74,684 people with a confirmed diagnosis have died in the country.
