A study by the World Health Organization confirmed the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on people's mental health: during the epidemic, the demand for the services of psychiatrists and psychotherapists increased significantly. This was announced on Tuesday, January 26, in an interview with the TASS agency by the WHO representative in Russia Melita Vujnovich.

“Nearly 93 percent of 130 states have reported disruptions in the provision of treatment services for mental, neurological and substance use disorders,” she said.

The representative of the organization noted that full recovery and recovery from the coronavirus pandemic is impossible without focusing on improving people's mental health. Moreover, this process should cover the entire society. Melita Vujnovic emphasized the importance of modern and high-quality provision of a range of comprehensive and integrated mental health services and support, as well as increasing the literacy of the population in this area.

Prevention, early identification, treatment and rehabilitation of patients and their follow-up care with respect for their rights and dignity are equally important.

Earlier, Melita Vujnovic also said that compliance with social and medical measures to combat coronavirus infection is necessary until everyone is protected by vaccination.
