The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the timing of the start of vaccination against coronavirus infection in emergency cases. This was announced by the chief researcher of the WHO Sumiya Swaminathan, RIA Novosti reports.
By the end of November, one or two COVID-19 vaccines will receive data from the third phase of the trial, she said. This will be enough to recommend using the drug in an emergency. “According to our best forecasts, we will get the first results by the end of the year,” she said.
Swaminathan added that based on preliminary data, state authorities will decide whether to recommend the use of vaccines in an emergency.
Earlier, the general director of the manufacturing company “R-Pharm” Vasily Ignatiev said that the mass vaccination of Russians with the drug “Sputnik V” against coronavirus could begin at the end of November and in December. Ignatiev said that five sites are involved in scaling up vaccine production, and the work is being done “literally every day.”
