Studies have shown the effectiveness of Covaxin at 78%.

Worldwide the health organization (WHO) has approved for emergency use the Indian coronavirus vaccine Covaxin from Bharat Biotech. This is already the eighth drug that has been approved for use in the vaccination of the population.

< p> This was reported to WHO on Twitter.

A technical advisory group convened by WHO has determined that the Covaxin vaccine meets WHO standards for protection against COVID19. The Indian vaccine is safe to use, but not for all populations, experts say. WHO recognizes that there is insufficient data to assess the efficacy and safety of this vaccine for pregnant women.

The WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) recommends the use of this vaccine in two doses with an interval of between doses of four weeks for all ages from 18 years old, except for pregnant women. Studies have shown the effectiveness of Covaxin at 78%. Scientists argue that the drug is suitable for low- and middle-income countries due to its ease of storage.

Note that WHO has already approved vaccines:

  2. AstraZeneca,
