WHO again records a record increase in new cases of coronavirus per day

The World Health Organization (WHO) has again recorded a record increase in new cases of coronavirus per day, RIA Novosti reports.

In just a day, 465 322 cases of COVID-19 were detected in the world. At the same time, on the eve of October 23, WHO also reported record figures – 445,419 cases of infection per day.

Earlier, WHO Chief Researcher Sumiya Swaminathan called the timing of the start of vaccination against coronavirus infection. By the end of November, one or two COVID-19 vaccines will receive data from the third phase of the trial, she said. This will be enough to recommend using the drug in an emergency. The first results will be received by the end of the year. Swaminathan added that based on preliminary data, state authorities will decide whether to recommend the use of vaccines in emergencies.

According to the latest data, 42.4 million cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in the world. Over the course of the pandemic, more than 1.1 million people have died, more than 28.6 million have recovered.
