US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Washington remains in favor of imposing sanctions on the Kremlin only after the Russian Federation launches a possible new attack on Ukraine.
– The President believes that sanctions should be aimed at having a deterrent effect. And in order for them to work and deter, we must act like this: if Russia starts moving, then sanctions will be introduced,” Sullivan said.
He clarified that the White House believes that this is “correct logic”.
Recall that some US congressmen insist on imposing part of the prepared tough sanctions against the Russian Federation for a possible new attack on Ukraine immediately, regardless of whether the Kremlin decides on another invasion.
