A White House employee who was in close contact on Friday, December 17, with US President Joe Biden, contracted COVID-19. This was reported by the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki, her words are quoted by TASS.
“On Monday morning, a mid-level employee who does not usually have contact with the president tested positive for COVID-19. Three days earlier, on Friday, this officer had spent about 30 minutes on board number one near the president, ”said Psaki.
She added that Biden took the test on Sunday and Monday, both negative.
According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the omicron strain of coronavirus has become the dominant strain in the United States, accounting for about three-quarters of infections in the country.
Earlier in November, Biden called on citizens to get vaccinated and revaccinated for maximum protection against the omicron strain of the coronavirus. “The best defense against a new strain or any other strain is to completely vaccinate and re-vaccinate,” said the American leader.
