White House changes admission policy to Kabul airport

by alex

The US government has changed its admission policy at Kabul International Airport named after Hamid Karzai. It is reported by CNN with reference to its source.

It is alleged that, by order of the White House, only citizens of the United States, NATO countries and green card holders will be allowed to enter the airport. Washington changed its mind about evacuating applicants for a special US immigration visa (SIV) after the situation with the documents sent out by the embassy got out of control – since the forms did not have serial numbers and bar codes, they began to be copied and distributed. According to CNN, obtaining this visa was the only chance for the Afghans who helped the American military in the fight against the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) to leave Kabul.

The source also said that the Taliban are helping US soldiers to select those who want to leave Afghanistan, checking their documents at the entrance to the airport. In addition to holders of green cards and holders of citizenship of NATO countries, their spouses and children may be allowed to evacuate. At the same time, according to CNN, about 20 thousand people are now at the Kabul airport, many of whom do not have suitable documents. According to the source, they will not be “thrown out of the airport.”

Moreover, the US authorities sent 33 C-17 aircraft to Kabul, each of which is capable of transporting 400 people.

Earlier it became known that the White House had warned civilian airlines in the United States that their plane could be used to transport people from Afghanistan. Civil aviation is not planned to be sent directly to Afghanistan, the planes will pick up people previously delivered to Germany or the Middle East.
