White House appreciates Facebook's decision to cut Trump's blocking

The decision of the administration of the social network Facebook to reduce the blocking of accounts of ex-US President Donald Trump from indefinite to two years is the business of the company itself. This was stated by the press secretary of the White House Jen Psaki, reports The Hill.

“They made their decision,” she said.

Psaki noted that any platform used by “millions of Americans” must fight disinformation. According to Psaki, recent years have shown how Trump manages his pages on social networks. The spokesman believes that his behavior is unlikely to change in the two years that Facebook has appointed.

Earlier, the Facebook leadership decided to return the accounts to Trump after two years, subject to certain conditions. The countdown begins on January 7 this year.

If, after two years, experts see a “serious risk to public safety,” the account ban could be extended. If Trump violates the platform rules again, his pages may be permanently deleted.

Trump's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts were blocked after supporters stormed the Capitol building on January 6 and disrupted a congressional meeting. The riots killed five people. Trump's opponents accused him of inciting the crowd. The politician himself considers the blocking to be unfair censorship.
