It is still unknown how exactly Trump will act, since his decisions can change.

Ukraine's European allies are expressing cautious optimism that the new US President Donald Trump will not force Kyiv into premature negotiations with Russia.

About Bloomberg reported this.

According to the information provided, Trump was more flexible than expected after a series of private talks with his team. European officials believe that the new administration can help restore Ukraine's strong position before any negotiations begin.

However, it is unknown how exactly Trump will act, since his decisions can change. According to sources, Trump's team is considering the risks that could arise if the United States refuses to help Ukraine, in particular given the failure in Afghanistan under Joe Biden and the possible consequences for relations with China. At present, Trump's team does not have a specific plan for Ukraine, but negotiations are ongoing.

During the election campaign, Donald Trump promised a quick end to Putin's war against Ukraine, but this promise is no longer in the foreground. According to Bloomberg, analysts believe that Trump is gradually losing interest in the issue, in particular because of his efforts to find common ground with the Russian dictator. At the same time, Europe is increasingly convinced that an agreement to end the war can be reached, in particular through sanctions against Russia and support for Kyiv.

British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy notes that a quick solution is unlikely, and it is even expected that the talks may be postponed until Easter.

Trump has expressed interest in overseeing the so-called deal of the century on Ukraine and criticizes Putin, but also tries to establish contact with the Russian leader. However, according to informed sources, the newly elected president has shown little interest in the Ukrainian issue, not understanding its strategic importance for the United States.

“Nevertheless, the newly elected president gave the impression that he was not overly concerned about the fate of Ukraine or did not recognize the strategic importance of the war for U.S. interests, the people noted,” the article says.

European leaders, however, are increasingly convinced that a peace agreement can be reached in the near future. They hope that tough sanctions against Russia and increased military support for Ukraine will facilitate this process.

The ceasefire talks, according to sources, provide for mandatory security guarantees for Ukraine, including the possibility of introducing U.S. troops in the event of new aggression. As for Ukraine's accession to NATO, European officials believe that this process is unlikely to be supported by Trump.

Recall that Trump said that he would meet with Putin “very quickly”.
