V In Wisconsin, a father and daughter stumbled upon a historical treasure while fishing on Lake Michigan. Their sonar picked up something unusual and they shared photos, suspecting it might be a sunken ship.

The Daily Mail writes about this.

Archaeologists believe the vessel is the George L. Newman, a 37-meter ship that sank in a devastating fire 152 years ago, killing more than one person.

Tamara Thomsen, a maritime archaeologist with the Wisconsin Historical Society, noted the significance of the find, noting that the ship, built in 1855, is old enough for Wisconsin shipwrecks. However, its connection with the Peshtigo fire gives it special historical significance.

Previously it became known that off the coast of Croatia, researchers discovered a preserved ship at the age of 2000 years.
