Donald Trump has once again sparked a heated debate on social media after expressing bewilderment at Liberian President Joseph Bokaie's “perfect English” during a state dinner at the White House.

Trump Surprises Internet With Infatuation With Liberia's English President

During a state dinner at the White House, US President Donald Trump surprised many by becoming fascinated by the English of his Liberian counterpart Joseph Bokaie. Upon hearing the Liberian president speak, Trump asked: “What good English. Beautiful English. Where did you learn to speak it so beautifully?”

JFeed reports this.

The video of the moment quickly went viral on social media, sparking a flurry of criticism and ridicule directed at Trump, with users wondering why the US leader did not know that English is the official language of Liberia.

US Ties to Liberia

Liberia's ties to America go back more than 150 years. The country, located on the west coast of Africa, was founded in 1822 by the American Colonization Society as a colony for free African Americans.

Liberia gained independence in 1847, becoming the first African republic to be governed by people of African American descent. This is why English was the most widely spoken language from the start and eventually the only official language in the country. All official correspondence, from the constitution to legislation, is in English. However, at least 20 regional languages are also spoken in Liberia.

Let us recall that the Pentagon has quadrupled the total volume of planned purchases of missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems in the new fiscal year, which starts on October 1. It is planned to allocate 1.3 billion dollars for these needs.
