When the war ends: Ukraine risks being drawn into peace negotiations – Lithuanian minister

According to the Lithuanian minister, the lack of help from the West could put Ukraine in a position in which it has no choice but to ask for peace.

Ukraine risks being forced into peace talks with Russia unwillingly because its allies are not providing it with enough weapons and ammunition needed to win the war.

This was stated by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, Bloomberg reports.

In his opinion, Kiev's lack of missile systems and ammunition, as well as the months-long decision-making process in the European Union, risk putting Ukraine in a position in which it has no choice but to sue for peace.

“This would not be Ukraine’s choice,” Landsbergis said in an LRT television interview. “The Ukraine we know, and the Ukraine we will help as long as we breathe, would never decide to negotiate with terrorists. But the reality may be just that.”

Bloomberg notes that widespread support for Ukraine is showing signs of erosion as Kyiv's counteroffensive has stalled and the war has now dragged on for nearly two years.

“The US administration's arms supply commitments have been challenged by Republican resistance, and the EU's ambition to send a million artillery shells by March is likely to be in tatters.”

“It looks comical when we see that North Korea helps Russia more than the European Union helps Ukraine,” – the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, he assured that he believed in the victory of Ukraine and promised that Lithuania would do everything possible to help.

“In the past it was said that organizations such as the European Union and NATO are like-minded, but we are stuck both on the issue of providing assistance to Ukraine and on the issue of introducing new sanctions against Russia,” the Lithuanian minister added.

Probability of negotiations with the Russian Federation: what is known

Earlier, Slovakia said that the time had come for “peaceful” negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

The Washington Post published an article that Ukraine may face the reality that it needs to negotiate with the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the authorities do not intend to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia.

According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, there is no point in negotiations with the Russian Federation, since Russia is a killer country that wants to destroy Ukraine.
