When the iPhone Flip could come

The iPhone Flip is back in conversation. But when will it be published?

Foldable smartphones have been back in fashion since the Galaxy Flip Z at the latest. But there is still no foldable iPhone from Apple. There are always reports and concept videos. These are mostly more of a “make a wish” than actual videos of leaked versions. “Much too early,” say numerous analysts. Again and again there was talk of Apple wanting to introduce a foldable iPhone “by 2025”, so for a long time.

The concept videos show a mixture of an iPhone and a Galaxy Flip Z, so this is what it would look like if you were to construct an iPhone Flip from the existing models:

Instead of a notch (display notch), the “iPhone Flip” would have a small, centered pinhole camera. The triple camera would contain the LiDAR scanner and there would be a smaller second display on the outside.

A report by “Tom's Guide” from December can be read that Apple will only introduce the iPhone 13 in 2021, but not an iPhone Flip. According to the report, it would be “2022 at the earliest”.

But “DigiTimes” knows that the iPhone Flip is not simply a dual-screen phone, as would be the case with the Surface Duo, but a “real” clamshell phone with a flexible OLED display. The costs for this will fall extremely in the coming years and therefore even more foldable smartphones can be expected from other smartphone manufacturers in the next few years, according to the report.
