When Iran Will Be Able to Enrich Uranium Again: IAEA Forecast

Iran will be able to enrich uranium again in a few months, and the US and Israeli strikes have not caused total damage to its nuclear program.

Rafael Grossi

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, believes that Iran could resume the process of enriching uranium in a few months, despite the damage to its power caused by American strikes.

He said this in an interview with the American television channel CBS.

According to him, Iran is capable of starting up centrifuges that will enrich uranium in a few months, and perhaps even faster. Rafael Grossi cannot say that all Iranian capacities have been destroyed.

“We do not assess military damage, but from a logical point of view, we can say: yes, the damage was serious, but not complete. Iran has the technological and industrial capabilities, so if they want, they can resume the program,” he added.

He also stressed that it is necessary to return to the negotiating table and find a technically sound solution to Iran's nuclear program. If this does not happen, “the problem will return again.”

Recall that on June 28, Iranian authorities banned Rafael Grossi from visiting nuclear facilities and did not allow IAEA surveillance cameras to be installed there. Iran also suspended cooperation with the IAEA. The Iranian bill assumes that IAEA inspectors will not be able to enter Iran for inspections unless they guarantee the safety of nuclear facilities and the country's peaceful nuclear activities.

Nuclear technology in Iran is under the control of the IAEA, since Iran is a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
