WhatsApp to end support for older Android and iOS devices
WhatsApp messenger will end support for devices with outdated versions of Android and iOS from November 1, 2021. It will only work on smartphones and tablets with versions Android 4.0.4, iOS 9 and older, according to the application's website.
In this regard, users were recommended to switch to a supported device, or save their chat history until the specified date. Earlier it was reported that a new feature in WhatsApp – the ability to write messages that are automatically deleted after 90 days. It is available with update 2.21.17.16, but only for Android smartphone users.
They also talked about the possibility of sending photo and video materials that will disappear after viewing. The function is designed to provide a higher level of privacy. It is useful when sending data such as passwords. It also saves memory space. Correspondence is also encrypted.
Facebook has added a new feature to the main application. The social network has already started testing it. It will give users the ability to make video and audio calls through the main application. Previously, users could communicate on social networks from a mobile phone by installing a separate Messenger application. The new feature promises to reduce the need to switch between it and the main application.
Meanwhile, by 2022, Russia plans to transfer all civil servants and employees of budgetary organizations to Russian messengers and other IT services. By February next year, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education will also develop recommendations for teachers, according to which they can communicate with parents, schoolchildren and students only through Russian services.
