Effective November 1, 2021, WhatsApp will disable millions of devices running Android below 4.1 and iPhones running iOS below 9.

The new rules for the messenger are reported on the company's website.

For the application to work correctly, a SIM card with Internet access is required.

Users were advised to switch to a supported device and keep their chat history until November 1st.

As noted by RIA Novosti, after the innovation, millions of users will lose access to the application.

Earlier, WhatsApp announced at the presentation of new Samsung devices that the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 will be the first smartphones to feature the function of transferring chats from iOS. This requires a wire with USB-C to Lightning connectors.

As a reminder, since January 1, 2021, Russia has a law obliging to pre-install Russian software on smartphones.
