What's new in iOS 15? Apple has unveiled a new version of its operating system for smartphones.
Apple has introduced a new operating system with many changes. The iOS 15 presentation took place at the annual WWDC-2021 developer conference. According to the developers, the new version of the OS will be on sale in September 2021, and the beta versions of the updates will be available in July.
What's changing in iOS 15?
Facetime
In iOS 15, the FaceTime video conferencing application will change. The service will have a number of unique features that will bring online communication to a qualitatively new level:
Using the application, you can create links to connect to the call in a web browser and add them to your calendar. IPhone users will also be able to send a link to a FaceTime conversation to users of devices on other platforms, including Windows and Android, who, in turn, using the received link, will be able to join a video chat; the SharePlay function will appear in FaceTime, which allows you to watch videos, listen to music and share the screen, including watching Twitch, TikTok, Disney + and other services together. FaceTime will add support for spatial audio, CrystalClear noise reduction mode, and “portrait mode” that will automatically blur the background.
iMessage
New features have also appeared in the iMessage app. In the updated version of the OS, using this service it will be possible to:
share any kind of content, including news from Apple News, playlists from Apple Music, and more; send multiple photos as an album.
The design of notifications will be updated in the new version. The smartphone will have a new function Summary, which will automatically select the most important of them and put them at the top of the list. The notifications themselves will become more convenient and intuitive, and the icons of the applications from which the notification was received will become larger. In addition, there will be new profiles such as “Work”, “Holiday”. Depending on the situation that the user sets, the Focus mode will intelligently identify the most important notifications. Thanks to the new feature at work, the user will only be able to receive notifications from work applications. Thus, notifications will not distract the owner of the smartphone from his current activities.
Live Text
The new OS will have a Live Text function that allows the smartphone's camera to recognize both typed and handwritten text and, for example, call the number seen or connect to the wireless network using the seen password. Also, using the iPhone camera, it will be possible to recognize lists, phone numbers and payment cards. The recognized text can be transferred to the appropriate application for further work. While the application supports only seven languages, there is no Russian among them.
Spotlight
The Spotlight search service, in response to searches for, for example, movies or artists, will return a page containing a link to them on Apple TV or Apple Music. It will also show you a list of actors playing roles in a movie or a list of albums by a music artist.
Photo
The application will have an improved function “Memories”, which will create a selection of the most successful photos associated with certain memorable events. The resulting photos can be combined into short videos using audio from Apple Music.
Wallet
The app will support more cards, passes and digital keys. It will also be possible to upload documents to it, which will save users from having to carry them with them. For now, this feature will be available in the US, but over time it will appear in other regions.
“Cards”
Apple has improved the application, in particular, improved the accuracy and detail of 3D objects. So far, this improvement will only affect a small number of major American cities. In addition, public transport timetables will appear, as well as more details in the driving mode.
“Weather”
The app will have a new look and feel, and users will have access to more weather data and will be able to view weather maps.
Safari
The application will update the appearance of the tabs and search bar. The sidebar of the service will adjust to the color of the open page – it will be practically invisible. Also, the browser has a full-screen mode for easy one-handed operation. In addition, the new OS will have a voice assistant, for which constant online is not required.
“Post office”
The mail application has received the “Privacy Protection” function, which will allow the user not to notify the sender about the opening of the letter and hide the IP address from which the user himself sends letters. The latter helps protect against surveillance – the recipient will no longer be able to use the IP address to determine the user's location.
App Privacy Report
With the new iOS 15, users will be able to receive a detailed privacy report – App Privacy Report. It will tell you which app has been used in the last week. The report will indicate the name of the application and the date of appeal.
