What US President Biden and his wife eat in restaurants: the Network has exploded with discussions

Americans believe that it is not wise to order the same dishes.

US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden recently dined in Washington at the popular local restaurant Red Hen. The presidential couple ordered a chicory salad, fried bread with butter, and two servings of rigatoni (a type of Italian pasta). However, it wasn't what they ate that bothered netizens.

Yahoo writes about it.

The Bidens are known to be fans of red sauce pasta. But the very fact that both Joe Biden and his wife Jill ordered the same dish caused active discussions on the Web.

Many criticized them for this, calling the Bidens' choice “meaningless.” Users believe that ordering identical dishes means depriving themselves of the chance for the maximum tasting of the menu.

“The whole point is to go out to eat, to try as many things as possible,” says Hannah Madden, a 24-year-old Washington resident.

All this came as a surprise to chef and owner Michael Friedman. Often restaurants become more popular after such a high-profile visit, but he did not expect the discussions to be so lively.

“It's such an honor to have a presidential visit, but it's funny what came out of it. It's a fascinating topic that people have chosen to pick up on, and I just enjoy the joke,” he says.

Friedman has been in the restaurant business long enough to see all kinds of general bookings. According to him, he and his wife often order different dishes, but not because of a “grand strategy.” He's just a more adventurous visitor.

“I'm the guy who orders the offal, and he takes the salmon,” he explained.

The publication notes that the openness of couples to sharing dishes and tasting dishes together is quite popular. At the same time, some may treat ordering at a restaurant as a “battle plan,” strategically considering their overall choices to maximize variety.

There are those who are not at all on the same wavelength. There may be situations when one partner shares and the other does not. Kristin Gwynn, a 31-year-old Maryland lawyer, takes a more ad hoc approach to the solution. She and her husband have an unspoken “soft recommendation” not to order the same thing – at least most of the time.

“If this is our first visit to a restaurant, I would like to try more things,” she said, and continued, “But for the second or third visit, I don’t mind if there is something that we thought was really tasty, and if some of us will be sad that we didn't eat it all.”

Not all couples are like that, said dating coach Damona Hoffman. Dinner was fraught with conflict, she noted, whether it was the question of ordering the same thing or different views on overall nutrition.

The 68-year-old Toronto professor said he and his wife had had the same conversation for the past 40 years while visiting the restaurant.

“It never fails – we sit down and her first comment is 'I'll order this and you can order that' and I'm like 'Wait, I haven't even looked at the menu yet!'” the man says, adding that only got used to it over the years and only rarely insists on choosing his own dish, no matter what the wife wants.

Recall that President Joe Biden confirmed his intention to run for a second term in an interview with ABC News host David Muir. While Biden has again stated that he intends to run, he also hinted that the announcement could be a long way off.
