Erdogan on negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

Türkiye will continue to make efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine and will take steps to continue the Istanbul process, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said before leaving for the NATO summit in The Hague.

Ukrinform reports this.

“We played an important role in making and implementing decisions on the exchange of prisoners and bodies. We are planning new steps to continue the Istanbul process,” Erdogan said.

According to him, it will be stated in The Hague that Türkiye is making diplomatic efforts to end the war without compromising its obligations to the Alliance.

Erdogan recalled that “after a three-year break, we brought the parties together in Istanbul.” He also announced that efforts to end the war in Ukraine are one of the topics of the NATO summit of heads of state and government, and that the allies will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Earlier it was reported that against the backdrop of a full-scale war in Ukraine, the current NATO summit in The Hague, which began on Tuesday, June 24, seeks to demonstrate the unity of the Alliance. However, behind the scenes, European officials are aware of the complexity of the situation: the administration of US President Donald Trump has expressed no desire to provide new military assistance to Kyiv, and previously approved arms deliveries from the Biden administration are ending.
