According to Robert Kagan, Trump's people and Trump himself must understand that Putin will not agree to an agreement acceptable to Ukraine and the United States.
Newly elected US President Donald Trump after the inauguration, which will take place on January 20, first will try to start negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. But Trump and his team may quickly realize that there is very little chance of serious negotiations.
This was stated in an interview with CNN by the famous American political scientist, analyst Robert Kagan.
“I think he (Donald Trump – ed.) will want to start negotiations with Vladimir Putin as soon as possible, but they may realize that there is very little chance of any serious negotiations. Putin, of course, will talk forever if he needs to, but not in order to actually start a settlement. Under the current circumstances, Putin has no incentive to negotiate. He thinks that he will win the war unless something changes dramatically, like a new bill on aid to Ukraine,” the analyst says.
According to Kagan, it should be clear to Trump's people and to Trump himself that Putin will not agree to an agreement acceptable to Ukraine and the United States.
Recall that newly elected US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin “very quickly” after he takes office next week.
