What traffic violation can cost more than 30 thousand hryvnia: drivers were reminded of an unfamiliar rule

The tread depth of car tires must be at least 1.6 mm, but many drivers forget about this rule.

Ukrainian drivers traveling outside of Ukraine may get into trouble due to ignorance of the traffic rules in another country. In particular, Polish legislation pays great attention to the condition of car tires and provides for huge fines for “bald” tires.

“Tvoya Mashina” writes about this.

In Ukraine, there is also a rule that the tread depth of car tires must be at least 1.6 mm. But the fine for this is 340 hryvnia. Therefore, most Ukrainian drivers simply do not remember this “insignificant” traffic rule, which actually cares about the safety of road users.

However, in Poland, violation of safety requirements is punished much more severely. Therefore, for improper condition of car tires, a driver can be fined 3,000 zlotys (almost 32,000 hryvnia). The same amount will have to be paid if the tires on the car were last replaced more than 10 years ago.

Recall that in Ukraine they want to introduce penalty points for drivers for violating traffic rules. The innovation will bring Ukrainian legislation closer to European legislation.
