What Russian propaganda has been lying about for a whole week: a digest of fakes collected by the National Security and Defense Council

by alex

During the outgoing week, Russian propagandists lied about the liquidation of the flight personnel of the Ukrainian Air Force, about the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant from outside Armed Forces of Ukraine, gas, attacks on Kharkiv, and more.

In particular, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, once again made a statement about “biological laboratories”.

This is stated in the digest of weekly fakes collected for TSN.ua by the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Fake:

Russian media outlets, citing anonymous military-diplomatic sources, reported that “the aerospace forces of the Russian Federation have actually eliminated the qualified flight personnel of the Air Force of Ukraine … [now] Kyiv has used former cadets who were shot down on the first or second sortie.”

>

Refutation:

Despite the fact that Russian propagandists produce fakes designed to demoralize the personnel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian pilots continue to successfully carry out combat missions. And this is confirmed by daily reports of the reduction of hostile air targets.

In this case, Russian propaganda used the disinformation mechanism “anonymous authority”, in which the name of the authority is not reported. In this case, we are talking about “anonymous military-diplomatic sources.” At the same time, documents, expert assessments, reports, witnesses and other materials necessary for greater persuasiveness may be quoted.

Fake:

The Russian Defense Ministry said: “The Kyiv regime continues provocations to create a man-made disaster at the Zaporozhye NPP. To strike at the territory of the ZNPP, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used a drone … [which they managed to] shoot down while approaching special building No. 1, where solid radioactive waste is stored.”< /p>

Refutation:

In an interview with the Ukrainian service of the Voice of America, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov expressed a clear position on the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant: “It makes no sense for us to do this, because today we understand the entire level of nuclear danger in relation to humanity. We survived the Chernobyl tragedy in 1986. It is the Ukrainians who know what the Chernobyl tragedy is. How many people died later from this radiation. Therefore, we ring all the bells and ask not only the IAEA, but the entire international community to intervene, to influence so that this does not become another cause of a nuclear catastrophe in Europe.”

Manipulation:

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that “the Russian Federation is ready to fulfill its obligations to supply gas, [however] the actions of the EU on the gas problem are difficult to understand and impossible to explain, and for ordinary Europeans have to pay them.”

Refutation:

In response to the suspension of Russian gas supplies to Europe, the press service of the Ukrainian Gas Transportation System Operator LLC said: “If Gazprom behaved like a reliable partner, it would easily find an opportunity to deliver the required volumes of gas to its customers. There are several alternative routes, in particular through the Ukrainian GTS, which has more than enough free capacity. However, as the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI” proves, using the documents of the Russian monopolist, the suspension of Nord Stream-1 is part of Russia's gas war, and its goals are political. “Gazprom” about the alleged technical problems and the failure of four GPUs at once raise doubts.

Fake:

The Russian SMP reported that in the center of Kharkiv “the facilities where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are deployed were attacked… [however] the Ukrainian side showed only a part of the damaged buildings, hiding the real targets of the RF Armed Forces… this tactic has been observed since the beginning [of the war], which was confirmed by Amnesty International in its large report”.

Refutation:

According to the official report of the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, on August 30, the Russian army once again fired at residential areas of Kharkov. The Shevchenkovsky region was under fire. Several houses and cars, a kindergarten and a recreation park were damaged. As a result of the shelling, four people were killed and 11 others were injured. Previously, shelling was carried out from an artillery mount.

Regarding the odious report of the non-governmental organization Amnesty International, Mikhail Podoliak, adviser to the head of the President's Office, said: “It is a pity that an organization like Amnesty International is taking part in this disinformation and propaganda campaign.”

Manipulation:< /h3>

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that “Moscow considers the statement of the US State Department on biological security (a joint statement of the United States, Georgia, Ukraine and several other countries – ed.) as part of a propaganda campaign aimed at further military biological research of the Pentagon under the guise of peaceful activity”.

Refutation:

The United States, fearing that the frequent repetition of statements about biological weapons may indicate that Moscow itself plans to use such weapons, conducting an operation in Ukraine under the “false flag”, issued a corresponding statement.

Thus, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called the Russian accusations “meaningless” and stated that the United States does not develop and does not possess such weapons: “now that Russia has put forward these false claims, and China seems to have approved of this propaganda, we should all be on the lookout for Russia possibly using chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine or carry out an operation under a “false flag”.

Recall that the SBU exposed pro-Russian agitators in Lviv who worked for the “LPR” militants.
