Is the Almighty a woman? Man? Or someone else? The organizers of the exhibition in one of the Frankfurt museums decided to answer these questions.

Is God a woman? Man? Or someone else? What does archeology say about this? Is there any information on this in the Bible? The Museum “House of the Bible” (Bibelhaus) in Frankfurt am Main has prepared an exhibition entitled “G * tt w / m / d – Geschlechtervielfalt seit biblischen Zeiten” (“God * m / f / d. Gender diversity since biblical times”) … It is dedicated to gender diversity in the concept of God and includes 80 exhibits, including artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations in the Holy Land. The exhibition opens on Wednesday evening, June 23rd.
Not only women and men
As Veit Dinkelaker, Lutheran pastor and director of the House of the Bible, noted in an interview with reporters, archaeological finds, ancient traditions and legends, theological and philosophical notes testify to “the diversity in the depiction of God and man from prehistoric times.” According to him, since ancient times, God was given both male and female features. There are also images where the masculine and feminine are combined into a single androgynous image of God.
One of the showcases of the Frankfurt exposition
According to Dinkelacker, gender diversity can also be read in the Bible: so, according to this scripture, God created man not as “man” and “woman”, but as “masculine” and “feminine”, and this presupposes the presence of nuances.
As the theologian points out, the binary gender system, according to which people are divided only into women and men, is the structure that has been preferred over the last century. However, we must not close our eyes to the fact that there are other genders. Demonstrating their diversity is the goal of the organizers of the exhibition in Frankfurt. The exposition runs until December 19.
